This is a new production of Berlioz’s 1859 version of the opera Orphee et Eurydice originally composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck based on the myth of Orpheus and set to a libretto by Ranieri de ‘ Calzabigi. It belongs to the genre of the azione teatrale, meaning an opera on a mythological subject with choruses and dancing. With the Malta Philarmonic Orchestra conducted by Philip Walsh and stage direction in the hands of Denise Mulholland, this Manoel Theatre’s Opera Production is set to mesmerize its audience into magical, mysterious world.
