Luigi Bassi Gran Duetto Concertato sopra motivi dell’opera “La Sonnambula“ 

Luigi Bassi, Italian clarinettist and composer, held the position of Principal Clarinet of Teatro alla Scala in the second half of 19th century.  He is renowned for his opera arrangements for clarinet. 

Particularly, well-known is this Gran Duetto Concertato written in 1867 for piccolo clarinet and clarinet, with piano accompaniment. Re-interpreting popular arias from Bellini’s opera, the delightful yet sparkling piece conveys the virtuosic traits of both soloists.
