Peter & the Wolf / Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra

Peter & the Wolf / Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra
9th April 2011 cyber

ANIMAL MUSICAL MAGIC

Venue: Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta
Time: 18:30h

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with St James Cavalier and the Mediterranean Conference Centre are proud to present another performance specially designed for children.

Following hot on the successful production of Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Christopher Muscat, presents the most famous and most enchanting of children’s classical coupling: the charming story of Peter and the Wolf brought to life by Prokofiev’s beautiful music and Benjamin Britten’s description of how an orchestra works with The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. Both works allow a fantastic insight into the magical musical world of the orchestral instruments.

Sarah Spiteri will be narrating the story, while Pierre Portelli will be directing unorthodox visuals using paper and plastics being created in real time in front of the children. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to enjoy classical music and partake in such a unique performance specially designed for them.
